In care
The main objective of RCPM is to bring the love and compassion of Jesus to the men and women imprisoned there. RCPM programmes are of a spiritual nature and based on the scripture and the teachings of our Catholic Faith. A spiritual approach reaches the innermost core of a person’s being and therefore has a better chance of transforming him. In general volunteers go to visit in prison to show that they care for those they visit out of a love motivated by Christ’s love for all. Volunteers sow the Word of God and cultivate the habit of prayer. They bring the worship and the Sacraments to those in prison. They impart Life Skills and Values based on our Faith.

· Organise hearing of confession by the chaplain for the inmates. Volunteers are to ensure that confessions are held in the same room and not in corridors outside. Holding confessions outside the room is a breach of security rules of SPS. If a priest is hearing confession during a session, the session volunteers(s) must ensure that other inmates do not disturb the hearing of confession. Volunteers can engage those wanting to make their confession by guiding them in the Examination of Conscience so that they can make a good confession.
In order to improve their skill sets, volunteers should try to alternate with breaking of the word and rotate on other tasks with other volunteers in the team.
